🪶 About Gareth Taylor
Warm. Grounded. Integrative.

I’m Gareth – an integrative counsellor, psychotherapist, and clinical supervisor based in Tenterden, Kent, working both in person and online with people across the UK and internationally.

My approach is grounded, compassionate, and quietly confident – shaped by years spent working in people-focused roles where calm presence, empathy, and communication were vital.

I have had the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life and cultures, and that experience taught me something powerful: beneath our differences, we all seek understanding, belonging, and peace of mind.

That belief sits at the heart of how I work today.

My Journey into Counselling

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in a profession that took me around the world and placed me in contact with people from every corner of society – leaders, families, professionals, and those facing deep personal struggle.

Listening, managing emotion in the moment, and creating calm in the midst of pressure became second nature.

Over time, I began to see how those same skills could serve a deeper purpose – helping others find stability and meaning not just in a single moment, but across the whole of their lives.

That realisation led me to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist, bringing with me a lifetime of insight into human behaviour, resilience, and connection.

My Therapeutic Approach

I work integratively, meaning I draw from several therapeutic models to suit you as an individual – not a fixed formula.

This includes:

The empathy and authenticity of Person-Centred Therapy
The structure and tools of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
The depth and reflection of Psychodynamic thinking
The awareness and creativity of Gestalt approaches

At its core, therapy with me is a conversation – real, relational, and restorative.

Together, we explore the patterns that hold you back and the parts of you that are ready to grow.

Clinical Supervision

Alongside my client work, I offer clinical supervision for counsellors and therapists.

My approach is supportive yet thought-provoking – encouraging curiosity, ethical reflection, and personal growth.

I hold a Level 6 Diploma in Counselling Supervision (The Thoros Centre for Therapy Learning) and work with both trainees and experienced practitioners who value honesty, warmth, and depth in their supervisory relationships.

Supervision, to me, is a space to think, breathe, and reconnect with your professional identity – not just to review work, but to rediscover why you do it.

What Clients and Supervisees Often Say

Whether you’re seeking therapy, supervision, or simply a space to pause and reset, I offer a calm, confidential environment where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.

Clients describe me as calm, grounded, and gently challenging – someone who helps them feel understood and supported while inviting them to see things differently.

Supervisees often say they leave sessions with greater clarity, confidence, and connection to their work.
